I BEG TO DIFFER (Boko haram cease-fire)

I BEG TO DIFFER (Boko haram cease-fire)

Why this sudden cease-fire is not surprising to me - Olufemi Benjamin

Fellow Nigerians, i will first of all want us to ask ourselves how we feel about this cease-fire agreement which is being reported in the media, do you think its real? Which political party seems to be at the benefiting end of this agreement? Why the sudden turn around from a sect that has formerly rejected pleas for a cease-fire from all quarters? Let us ask ourselves as many questions as we can about this terror which is about to come to an end.

As many Nigerians have been voicing out their various opinions on this issue i as a concerned citizen of this country i believe it will only be right for me to voice out my opinion also and i sincerely hope you (the reader) might see things the way i see it.

Contrary to some opinions that the Incumbent President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been using the boko-haram as a tool for his second term agenda, i beg to differ on this as i personally feel the only impediment on the present administrations score card is terrorism which is being perpetrated by this boko haram sect.

Needless to drag on further arguments as to why the present administration has no gain in terrorism which the country is currently plagued with, i will want to move on to why i have an entirely different opinion on the boko haram cease-fire issue.

Permit me fellow Nigerians to take us back to the 2011 elections when Gen. Buhari told all who cared to listen that if he did not win the elections the boko haram we were witnessing then will be a child's play. Ever since the results were announced northern Nigeria has not had a break from violence particularly boko haram attacks.

From a political point of view, this has only been to Gen. Buhari's advantage as the reign of terrorism has not only made the present government look incompetent in securing the lives and property of the people living in the north, it has also deprived them of being able to enjoy the numerous benefits of the present administration thereby pitching them against the present administration and automatically putting their confidence in a candidate which they feel is more closer to them and has their interest at heart.

Do i need to say this has been the strategy all along? Why is a sect which was used to threaten all Nigerians in the last election and has terrorised the country ever since, refusing every plea for peace suddenly opts for a cease-fire barely 24hrs after the same man who threatened us with the sect declared his presidential ambitions?

Need i also remind you that the APC has always been clamouring for elections in the face of terror in the affected areas, has this being in their plan all along? Did they already have a premonition that the boko haram sect was going to sheath their swords before the general elections?

If you're still in doubt as to who is at advantage in this terror war, kindly answer this question, if you happen to live in the affected areas, who will you vote for? The lecturer who couldn't secure your lives or property or the  retired general who happens to come from your region?

On a final note, i really must say that i salute Gen. Buhari's sense of reasoning, he has proved himself to Nigerians as a good military strategist as we can see.

I wish all Nigerians the very best in the forthcoming elections
