Wed 27 2014 9am

As a concerned citizen of this country, I cannot continue to pretend and ignore the happenings in this country. Nigeria is my country and can only give back what I sow in it.

I feel really pained this early morning as I have finally come to the conclusion that we are the cause of Nigeria's problem not the politicians, subconsciously we've all been pulled into the web of politics in one way or the other. Everything in this country has been politicised, sports, education, entertainment e.t.c. Everything depends on who you know or who you like and not who is qualified.

Not surprisingly we tend to blame everything on the government but in reality we are the architect of our own doom. Nigeria is not doomed, it is you and I that is about to be if we don't leave the politics to the politicians and let them stop manipulating us against our own government. Power belongs to the people, irrespective of who is ruling that is the choice of the majority and we should support the government to move the country forward.

Politics in this country is just like the football we watch nowadays, we see big transfers from one political party to another, every political party spending huge sums to build an unbeatable team. This is not limited to politicians alone, they also channel huge sums into gathering a large "fan base" by getting iconic individuals like footballers, musicians, actors, businessmen e.t.c to declare support for them so as to gather a huge fan base.

That was the breaking point for me as I after carefully observing discovered that one of my favorite channels ( Hip TV) may have been politically compromised. I know it sounds unbelievable but here is what I saw.
They entertained us with conscious music ranging from, (in no particular order) oritse femi's religious war, Joe el ft 2face no more, righteousman No, C-stroke tell the boss, timi dakolo, Two ft 2face e.t.c even davidos' one of a kind was able to make the playlist. All this music talked about the issues affecting the country, and I believe those artiste went individually to make music to enlighten us happenings around us and the Nigerian situation which is one of the essence of music (creating awareness). One song which I feel most people will agree with me is supposed to be on the playlist is Idris abdulkareem godfather godson but surprisingly was left out. I believe Hip TV needs to explain why the song was omitted from the playlist. Are we not to be conscious of the developments around us? Is it only the negatives that is worth airing? What about the positives? I feel disappointed and cannot seem to stomach the fact that it might have been politically motivated. I felt disgusted to the point that I had to turn off my TV set.

We should correct this, we are not all politicians, but we all are Nigerians. We are the government not politicians. Let us enlighten ourselves, Nigerians should not be jubilating over the prospect of a politician joining a political party like Man U fans over di maria, it's not our business! We should challenge our politicians on what they have to offer the country not their interest. Some are just desperate for power at all cost.

Let us be conscious,

Arise O compatriots...

Peace and unity.

When we sing the anthem let it come from our hearts and let the meaning of the pledge flow through you.

"I PLEDGE TO NIGERIA MY COUNTRY, TO BE FAITHFUL LOYAL AND HONEST, TO SERVE NIGERIA WITH ALL MY STRENGTH, TO DEFEND HER UNITY AND UPHOLD HER HONOUR AND GLORY, SO HELP ME GOD. AMEN!

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
